Hoarding disorder (HD) is a severe psychiatric condition marked by extreme saving behaviors, collecting tendencies, and levels of clutter that impair daily functioning and can present health and safety risks. Until relatively recently HD was under-recognized, poorly understood, and thought to be rare. It is now understood that HD is a common and complex clinical phenomenon, often marked by high rates of physical and psychiatric comorbidity and lack of insight. Although efficacious treatments have been developed, it remains challenging to reduce hoarding behaviors. Join Kiara Timpano, PhD as she discusses the essential concepts of Hoarding Disorder and well as its treatment and interventions.
