What happens to children when their world is turned upside down? They can feel both overwhelmed and trapped. While many countries are beginning to focus more on mental health and allocating resources for care – far too many children and adolescents still face obstacles when seeking care from a child mental health professional. This presentation will identify the global challenges we face in children’s mental health and consider how to face cultural and political challenges. We will also share successful psycho-social programs that have been developed, as well as ways to provide educational tools to those in the field. Join Paramjit T. Joshi, MD, to learn more about how children and adolescents respond to trauma and to hear a discussion of important extenuating factors and mediating variables to consider.
