On Demand OCD & Anxiety Lecture Series: Medication Protocols for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, New Research, and Differential Diagnosis
This presentation was originally reviewed on March 23, 2021, and broadcast live online on March 26, 2021, from 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM ET.
Education regarding Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorders is lacking in most psychiatric residencies in the United States, and the amount of training is correspondingly low as well compared to other major psychiatric disorders. Research has shown that this lack of education leads to poor treatment outcomes for patients with OC Related Disorders. This lecture aims to teach the basic protocols for OCD pharmacotherapy as well as discuss complex cases and presentations and how this effects the choice of medical treatment and treatment planning for physicians and mental health providers.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and other mental health professionals.
Learning Objectives
After this lecture, registrants will be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) treatment algorithm.
2. Describe how to manage treatment resistant OCD.
3. List the criteria for neurosurgery in OCD and be able to explain why most patients referred for surgery are not eligible.
