About the speakers

Haim Omer, Ph.D., professor emeritus from Tel-Aviv University, is the founder of NVR (Non-Violent Resistance), an approach for parents and teachers that allows them to develop an acceptable and positive kind of authority based on presence, self-control and support. NVR has been proven effective in over 30 studies published in highly reputable scientific venues. It has consistently been shown to reduce the child's symptoms, improve function, reduce escalation, improve the relationship, reduce risk behaviors, and reduce stress in both the adult caregivers and in the child. Among the treated conditions are ADHD, conduct disorder, anxiety disorder, OCD, autism spectrum disorder, screen abuse/addiction and more. Haim Omer's books on NVR have been translated to 15 languages. There are centers teaching NVR in 12 countries. Besides dozens of national conferences devoted to NVR there were already 7 international conferences in the UK, Germany (twice), Holland, Belgium, Israel, and Austria. An international conference is planned in America for 2026.

Crystal DeVito, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist with decades of experience in clinical child psychology and developmental psychopathology. She has held academic appointments in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. DeVito’s published research has identified parent-child attachment style and parenting practices as early risk factors for childhood disruptive behavior problems and demonstrated the effectiveness of parent interventions in primary care settings. Since joining Sheppard Pratt in 2021, Dr. DeVito has remained committed to evidence-based assessment and treatment to promote healthy child development, strengthen family relationships, and prevent and mitigate childhood disorders.

Avremi Rosenberg is an internationally respected Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) practitioner, trainer, and speaker with over 14 years of experience supporting children, young people, families, and schools facing complex behavioural and emotional challenges. Drawing on his background as a school counsellor and foster carer for young people with behavioural difficulties, he combines deep practical expertise with a highly engaging training style. In 2024, Avremi co- founded the International School for Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) alongside Professor Haim Omer, helping to advance the development and international delivery of NVR training. He has trained professionals, educators, and schools across the UK and internationally and is recognised for translating evidence-based principles into practical strategies that can be implemented immediately. Avremi specialises in supporting families and professionals working with children and young people with ADHD, autism, and severe behavioural difficulties. His work focuses on strengthening adult presence and authority, improving relationships, and creating sustainable, long-term change in homes, schools, and communities.
