Center for Eating Disorders Lecture Series: Integrating Art Therapy in the Treatment of Eating Disorders
Due to limited exposure to creative arts therapies in the outpatient setting, clinicians might not be aware of the scope of services provided by a licensed art therapist.
In this lecture, clinicans will recognize the function of art therapy as part of an interdisciplinary team in the treatment of eating disorders. Clinicans will describe the practice of art therapy and specialized interventions (such as the body trace process), and how art herapy can be integrated as part of a treatment plan for patients with eating disorders.
Clinicians will disucss defining art therapy as an adjunctive (or primary) treatment modality in the treatment of eating disorders; what kind of patients are appropriate to refer to art therapy; what kind of interventions are utilized in art therapy sessions to hep treat eating disorders.
Target Audience
The target audience for this lecture is physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, counselors and other mental health professionals treating patients with eating disorders.

Illustrate and summarize art therapy techniques utilized in the treatment of eating disorders.
