Not all clutter takes up physical space. In our increasingly digital world, many individuals struggle with the accumulation of digital information- over saving photos, files, apps, and emails. Digital hoarding can cause significant stress and impairment, hindering one’s ability to live fully. In this workshop, we’ll explore the various causes and methods of digital hoarding and provide insights into breaking the cycle, helping individuals regain control of their digital lives. We will explore Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and an integrative approach that focuses on motivation and emotional regulation, offering a more personalized and compassionate approach to managing digital overload. Case discussions will be utilized to illustrate different skills and provide valuable insights into recovery. This workshop will offer up to date research addressing the behavior while providing guidance in developing a behavioral plan through actionable strategies to help those impacted by digital hoarding.

This activity is intended for physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, counselors and other mental health professionals.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
- Discuss the reasons why digital information is gathered and saved
- Recognize and assess for the distress and impairment caused by digital hoarding
- Explain how Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and an integrative approach can help people living with digital hoarding move toward healthy change

About the speaker
Renae Reinardy, PsyD is a Licensed Psychologist and Director of the Lakeside Center for Behavioral Change. Dr. Reinardy specializes in the treatment of Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors, OCD, Hoarding Disorder, Tic Disorders, and related conditions. She is the co-author of The BFRB Recover Workbook: Effective Recovery from Hair pulling, Skin Picking, Nail Biting and Other Body-focused Repetitive Behaviors. She is the Program Developer of CourageCritters.com, a skills-focused online and plush animal system. Dr. Reinardy serves on the BTTI Faculty for the International OCD Foundation. She is an advocate for childhood mental health and a Delegate to the United Nations CSW.
