About the speaker

Lisa M. Rocchio, Ph.D. is a clinical and forensic psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of interpersonal violence and traumatic stress, as well as ethical issues relating to the clinical and forensic practice of psychology. Dr. Rocchio owns and operates an inter-disciplinary group psychotherapy practice and an independent forensic practice in Rhode Island. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor within the department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Brown University Alpert School of Medicine where she conducts supervision and training for psychiatry fellows. In her clinical and forensic practices, Dr. Rocchio has evaluated and treated hundreds of individuals who have experienced interpersonal violence, including childhood sexual abuse, rape and sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and sexual harassment. She regularly provides forensic consultation and expert witness testimony in the areas of traumatic stress and interpersonal violence in both civil and criminal matters and has been admitted as an expert witness in both State and Federal Courts. Dr. Rocchio has published and presented at national and international conferences in her areas of expertise, and regularly provides supervision, consultation, and training to other professionals. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA), where she is the immediate Past-President and founding member of APA’s Division of Trauma Psychology and a former member of the APA Ethics Committee. Dr. Rocchio is also very active within her community and has served as president of the Rhode Island Psychological Association (RIPA), and as RIPA’s representative to APA’s Council of Representatives.
