Wednesday Lecture Series: Identifying Risk Markers for Autism Spectrum Disorders in the First Year

The lecture will describe early sign and risk markers for ASD before the onset of the full blown syndrome in the toddler or preschool years.  The lecture is based on current research in the field.  Little research has been on this topic until recently.  Clinicians will learn which signs to probe for in very young children.

 

Target Audience

The target audience for this presetation is physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, counselors and other professionals working with at risk children.

Learning Objectives

Identify early behavioral signs and time course of the emergence of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Distinguish early differences in how the brain processes speech in infants at risk for Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Recognize the early language environment provided by mothers of infants at risk for Autism Spectrum Disorder.
